sheilaSheila L. Cavanagh (PhD), Professor @ York University.

Cavanagh’s scholarship lies in psychoanalytic sociology, queer theory, and transgender studies. She is a former co-editor of  Somatechnics journal at Edinburgh University Press, past president of the Canadian Sexuality Studies Association, and former Chair of the Sexuality Studies Program at York University.

Cavanagh is a clinical sociologist with a private therapy practice. She is a clinical pre-candidate at the Lacanian School of Psychoanalysis in San Francisco and is qualifying for registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). See her article on sociotherapy published in the Journal of Applied Social Sciences
